The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) on February 26, 2026, issued a circular regarding Strict Compliance with Timelines for Processing & Disposal of Consent Applications.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change issued guidelines (Jan 2025) on consent disposal timelines and lapse resolution for industries.
•The Board has aligned its revised timelines (Feb 2026) with Ease of Doing Business for faster processing of consent applications.
•Maximum timelines are fixed: 15 days for Green, 24 days for Orange, and 40 days for Red category industries.
•Responsibilities are clearly defined across SRO, RO, and HQ levels for stage-wise processing and approvals.
•The circular supersedes the July 2025 order, mandates strict compliance, and warns of disciplinary action for delays.
